Heading for the energy supply of the future
Economic efficiency, supply security and environmental protection – that’s the "magic triangle" of objectives we aim to meet in the energy supply. We need new approaches and technical innovations to do justice to all three objectives in future as well. MVV Energie is involved in numerous national and European projects dedicated to finding new ways of securing our energy supply.
As an energy supplier, MVV Energie is focusing in its work with its partners on two main areas – individual consumers, who will play a more active role both as customers and as suppliers on the energy market in future, and electricity grid technology. The core points here will be transmissions efficiency and the integration of decentralised renewable energies.
Out of the laboratory and into households
Both of these focal areas require extensive research for progress to be made. That’s why the MVV Energie Group is committed to national and European funded research projects, such as E-Energy and SIDENA, which are designing and testing new, smart and efficient technologies and products.
Alongside this, MVV Energie is also taking part in CALLUX, a nationwide programme of practical trials on fuel cells for use in the household energy supply that forms part of the Federal Government’s "National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Programme". Within the CALLUX programme, a total of 33 fuel cells are due to be installed in detached houses in the Rhine/Neckar metropolitan region in the coming years. Further information about the CALLUX project can be found in the Callux-Film and on the internet at www.callux.net.
